COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions everyone asks us.

CATEGORY 01

Registration & Services

A

Registration and consultations are completely free. We never charge job seekers, even after you start work.

Japanese law (the Employment Placement Law) prohibits us from charging job seekers. If any agency ever asks you for fees, contact Jobee immediately.

A

Absolutely. We regularly work with people living overseas—consultations and support via video calls are standard for us.

We handle everything: online interviews, visa applications, arrival preparation, and settling in once you get here.

A

No problem at all. Our team supports 8 languages (Japanese, English, Burmese, Indonesian, Sinhalese, Hindi, Bengali, and Nepali). We'll work in your native language.

We prepare you for the workplace Japanese you'll need before you start your job.

A

Not at all. You can decline any opportunity without obligation.

You can also wait after registering to gather information before deciding. We're happy to help you explore options at your own pace.

A

Based in Osaka, we focus on the Kansai region (Osaka, Hyogo, Kyoto, Nara, Shiga, Wakayama). We also have openings in Aichi, Fukuoka, and Hiroshima.

We may be able to help with other regions too, so feel free to ask.

CATEGORY 02

Jobs & Salary

A

We work across many industries: care, construction, manufacturing, food service, agriculture, hospitality, cleaning, logistics, and more. We support Specified Skilled Worker, Technical Intern, Status-of-Residence, and High-Skilled Professional visas.

Check our job search page for the latest openings. Tell us your preferences, and we can introduce exclusive positions not advertised publicly.

A

Salaries are guaranteed to be equal to or higher than Japanese nationals' pay—this is required by law (Immigration Control Act and labor laws).

Exact amounts vary by industry, location, experience, and visa type. When we introduce you to a position, we'll provide detailed written information in your native language: hourly/monthly rate, overtime pay, allowances, and deductions.

It depends on the position. We have roles with minimal overtime and others that offer higher pay with more overtime.

Overtime and weekend pay are calculated at higher rates under labor law. We'll match your preferences—whether you want to earn more or prioritize personal time—with the right opportunity.

A

Yes. Salary, holidays, social insurance, and paid leave are all legally guaranteed to be equal for foreign nationals.

We insist that our partner companies ensure fair treatment for everyone. If you ever experience unfair treatment, tell your coordinator immediately.

A

Yes. We offer both dispatch roles (employment with Jobee) and direct placement roles (employment with the company).

Dispatch offers intensive Jobee support during your first months or years. Direct placement is better for those seeking long-term stability with one company. We'll recommend the best fit based on your goals and visa type.

CATEGORY 03

Visas & Residence Status

A

We support a wide range:

  • Specified Skilled Worker (SSW, Level 1 & 2)
  • Technical Intern (Level 1, 2, & 3)

A

Yes. We support Certificate of Eligibility (COE) applications, visa submissions, and renewals or status changes—everything from document prep to agency visits.

For complex applications, we partner with immigration specialists. We can also support overseas applicants with in-country filing.

A

It depends on your visa type. For example, Specified Skilled Worker requires an employer change notification. Technology/Humanities/International Services requires a contract holder notification.

We'll check if your new role matches your visa status and guide you through all required filings.

A

Yes. We track your visa expiration date and give you advance notice before renewal is needed.

We prepare the required documents and can accompany you to immigration if needed.

CATEGORY 04

Life & Housing

A

Jobee arranges housing near your workplace. We offer furnished options so you can start living immediately after arrival.

Rent varies by location and apartment type. We'll discuss your preferences and find options that work for you.

A

It depends on your visa type. Specified Skilled Worker Level 2, Technology/Humanities/International Services, Permanent Resident, and Long-term Resident visa holders can bring spouses and children on dependent visas.

Specified Skilled Worker Level 1 and Technical Intern typically cannot bring family initially, but upgrading your visa down the road opens that door. Let's discuss your long-term plans.

A

After arrival, our coordinators accompany you to open a bank account, sign up for mobile service, and register for your individual number (My Number).

We know which banks and carriers make it easiest for foreign nationals.

A

Contact your coordinator first. We'll help assess your symptoms, guide you to an appropriate doctor, and provide interpretation if needed.

We'll also explain your insurance coverage, medical costs, and any sick leave procedures. In emergencies, call 119.

A

Contact your Jobee coordinator anytime via LINE, phone, or email. We offer 24-hour LINE support (responses during business hours, but emergencies handled anytime).

We also check in during monthly visits. Don't carry stress alone—reaching out is key to staying happy and productive.

FOR RESIDENTS IN JAPAN

Questions specific to peoplealready here.

These FAQs cover career transitions for those already living and working in Japan.

A

All conversations are completely confidential. We never contact your current employer. Our consultations are available evenings and weekends, and we primarily communicate via LINE to keep things private.

Interviews are usually online or scheduled after hours. If you're worried about your job hunt being discovered, that's exactly why you should talk to us first.

A

If your visa is for employment (Specified Skilled Worker, Technology/Humanities/International Services, etc.), you must file an employer change notification within 14 days of changing jobs with immigration.

We prepare the documents, handle filing (online or mail), and track the deadline. Missing this notification can affect future visa renewals, so we never slip.

A

Yes, if the job involves a major shift in industry or role. For example: Specified Skilled Worker (Care) to Specified Skilled Worker (Construction), or Technical Intern to Specified Skilled Worker.

We verify that your new job aligns with your visa, prepare all documents, and work with immigration specialists to process the change. You can keep working under your current visa while your new status is being reviewed (extension period).

A

Yes. Our coordinators help find housing, book moving companies, and handle all government paperwork (address registration, etc.). We have a network of properties that welcome foreign nationals.

If you have a driver's license, you'll also need to update it at the police station. We create a checklist so nothing gets missed.

A

We'll help you navigate the right way to resign, how to write a resignation letter, and best practices for handing over work—all in line with Japanese business norms. Typically, you tell your employer 1–2 months before your intended departure.

Make sure to collect: tax deduction certificate (kenshuuchushutsugaku), pension records, health insurance termination certificate, and unemployment insurance separation documentation. If anything is missing, we'll help you follow up with your old employer.

A

Your family's "dependent" visa is tied to your visa status. If your status changes, theirs may too, requiring filings.

If you have children in school, a move means transferring their enrollment. We coordinate with schools and government offices, handling documentation and procedures for the whole family.

FROM OVERSEAS

Questions specific to peoplecoming from abroad.

These FAQs cover the process for those preparing to move to and start work in Japan.

A

Typically 2–4 months. Breakdown: consultations and interviews 2–4 weeks, COE application and approval 1–3 months, arrival preparation 2–4 weeks.

Timelines vary by country, visa type, and processing season. Once you contact us, we can give you a realistic estimate for your specific situation.

A

A COE is Japan's immigration agency's official certificate proving you meet the requirements to obtain a visa. Before you can get a visa from a Japanese embassy or consulate abroad, you need this certificate.

We and the employer apply for the COE in Japan, and the process typically takes 1–3 months. Once approved, you submit it to your nearest Japanese embassy or consulate to get your actual visa.

That varies by company and position: the employer may cover it, you may pay, or they may pay part of it.

Before interviews, we'll clearly explain who covers the cost. There are no surprises here.

A

A Jobee coordinator meets you in baggage claim. They speak your language and will be waiting for you, so your first moment in Japan feels welcoming.

We then drive you to your pre-arranged housing, and starting the next day, we help with government offices, banks, and mobile providers. Your first two weeks are intensive—we're in constant contact.

A

Yes, for overseas arrivals we prioritize fully furnished apartments (fridge, washing machine, bed, microwave, etc.). You can start living immediately.

We also stock basic essentials—bedding, towels, dishes—before you arrive. Pack light and bring just yourself.

A

No problem. We support 8 languages, and everything from consultations to interviews is in your native language.

Before starting work, we teach you the Japanese you'll need on the job—safety terminology, greetings, basic conversation. After arrival, we offer ongoing Japanese learning support, including JLPT exam prep.

A

Depending on your visa: Technology/Humanities/International Services, Specified Skilled Worker Level 2, Permanent Resident, and Spouse of Japanese National holders can bring spouses and children on dependent visas.

Specified Skilled Worker Level 1 and Technical Intern typically cannot bring family initially, but you can upgrade your visa later to make that possible. Let's plan for the long term.
